At the end of year 2007, SIA Lango, the leader in ready-made and instant food product manufacturing, received the recognition certificate issued by the Food and Veterinary Service of the Republic of Latvia, based on the Guidelines of good hygienic and manufacturing practice of chilled, industrially prepared ready-made products, which were elaborated during the last year.

Lango was the first food production company, which was evaluated according to these production guidelines and is recognized in production of flour gastronomy and mixed gastronomy products, also if in preparation thereof fresh meat and fishing products are used. In general, the recognition certificate confirms the ability of SIA Lango foodstuffs company of independent guarantee of conformity of its activities and production with the requirements established with normative enactments.

The chairperson of the Board of SIA Lango, Andrejs Fraimanis, confirms: “This is an important cornerstone in development of the company, because we, as a manufacturer, were not only actively engaged in development of the guidelines, but also were able to prove to ourselves, our cooperation partners, and the society in general, that implementation of the guidelines is realistic, feasible, and necessary. It is the duty of each producer to guarantee quality of the produced product during the period of validity, and we currently can do that with full sense of responsibility. It is another foundation of why our consumers can be sure that by buying foodstuffs produced by Lango, they will be eating a tasty, qualitative, and safe product.”

As indicated by Ieva Kļavinska, Head of plant derivative products, beverages, and biological farming monitoring department of Food and Veterinary Service (FVS): “Companies, which use fresh meat or fish for manufacturing foodstuffs, are subject to the EU condition – the necessity of recognition, or to say it in simpler terms – independent detailed examination, as a result whereof, the rights are allocated to distribute the production not only in the market of Latvia, but also in the market of Europe, and the company is included into the EU list. Recently, SIA Lango passed the procedure of recognition. From the viewpoint of the consumers – the fact of recognition is indicative of conformance of the company with the EU requirements, and provides the consumer with additional guarantee that the manufactured goods are safe and of good quality. On behalf of FVS, as the monitoring institution – the company not only formally complies with the requirements set forth in the normative enactments, but is also purposefully developing, by investing into progressive technologies and in highly skilled employees, wherewith monitoring is already on a much higher level.”

In year 2006, the Latvian Federation of Foodstuffs Enterprises (LFFE) in collaboration with the leading specialists of the industry elaborated the production guidelines, the objective whereof was to establish common principles, order, and procedures for enterprises manufacturing ready-made products, and to ensure implementation and improvement of Good Hygienic Practice therein.

“Our target in elaborating these guidelines was to implement certain organization in the industry of ready-made and instant foodstuffs products, and to ensure implementation of good hygienic and manufacturing practice into these manufacturing enterprises. It is very welcomed that Lango has implemented these guidelines into practice, thus once again confirming their responsibility for the quality and safety of the products for their consumers. It is also a stimulus for other participants of this sector to reconsider implementation of these guidelines into activities of their enterprises,” ascertained the managing director of LFFE, Arlita Sedmale.

The ready-made and instant foodstuffs are very sensitive by means of microbiological pollution.
