FVS Chooses Lango for Training its Audit Inspectors

Training of Food and Veterinary Service inspectors took place in the premises of the production unit of the leading ready-made and prefabricated foods manufacturer Lango LTD at the end of August, organized in cooperation with Austrian experts in the framework of the project ”Strengthening of the capacity of Latvian competent authorities in the application of hygiene requirements in specific food circulation stages”, with the aim to improve the FVS inspection system.

By hosting in its premises the team of the Food and Veterinary Service auditors together with Austrian experts, Lango once again proved that it meets all requirements applicable to manufacture of ready-made and prefabricated foods - as a result, consumers can enjoy high quality products that are safe and taste good.

During the one day training session the technological processes used to manufacture the Lango LTD range of products were demonstrated to the FVS representatives, as well as the control mechanisms, applicable procedures and traceability. During the visit the representatives examined the reporting period schedules of product microbiological control, result analysis, corrective action implementation, critical control points, their control and analysis, assessed staff training programmes and their efficiency by interviewing employees.

Ieva Kļavinska, Head of FVS Plant origin product, beverage and biological farming supervision department, said: ”Food and Veterinary Service organizes such type of training on a regular basis, in order to improve the quality of its inspections. In this case, within the framework of training and by agreement with companies, the inspectors carried out audit exercises in several food manufacturing companies. FVS chose Lango LTD as a company which, based on its investments both in technologies and in human resources, has achieved a high level as regards ability to ensure continued quality and safety of its production. We would like to thank Lango for cooperation and for the opportunity to train our inspectors in a company which - and the results of our inspections attest to that - has reached a high level of development and is able to ensure that the products it manufactures are consistently and invariably of high quality, safe and free from any harmful effects. The leading specialists here are real professionals and the production unit staff is highly competent - it allowed us to engage in motivated, reasonable and full-fledged discussions about production specific processes and different aspects of the quality control system implemented in the enterprise”.

During the training session the inspectors analysed in detail the documentation developed by the company and the records made, observed the production process, debated with the leading specialists and production unit employees. Besides, the inspectors inspected the production premises and discussed their findings. In conclusion FVS representatives prepared draft methodical materials with a view to further improve the official controls.

At the end of 2007, company Lango was assessed and recognised, based on Guidelines of good hygiene and manufacturing practice of chilled, industrially prepared ready-made products for culinary products prepared with flour and for mixed culinary products, including products prepared with fresh meat and seafood ingredients . This recognition certificate is a proof of the ability of the food manufacturer Lango LTD to consistently ensure that its operation and production meets the regulatory requirements, as well as the aplicable EU requirements.

Investing 2.3 million lats the company has built a new production unit which meets all legislative requirements and applicable European Union standards and introduced innovative technologies enabling to manufacture products with longer shelf-life without adding any potentially harmful preservatives .
